Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili: Well, I Am a Grown-up Girl Now

Born in 1968 lives in Tbilisi and works as a writer, translator and cultural journalist. Ana trespasses her literary talent to the next generations and teaches literature and creative writing at Ilia State University in Tbilisi. Her expressive and emotional tales and short stories about men and women, love and hate, sex and disappointment are somewhat outré and sarcastic, but it is this that gives them their appeal. She “shoots from the hip in these intimate tales of sometimes judgmental, often imperfect, but always likable women”. Ana Kordzaia has won various Georgian literary prizes. The author is also known for her successful translations from German into Georgian, including “The Thief Lord” by Cornelia Funke and “Die Liebhaberinnen” (Women as Lovers) by Elfride Jelinek for which She was awarded a prize for the best translation by the Goethe Institut Tbilisi. Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili’s works exist in numerous translations.
