Petr Borkovec was born in Louňovice pod Blaníkem in 1970. He studied Czech language and literature at Charles University in Prague; today, he writes poetry, short stories and books for children, and works as a translator, editor and journalist. He is also the dramaturge at Fra, a Prague-based literary café. Borkovec debuted with the poetry collection Prostírání do tichého [Silent Table Settings] (1990), and his work Ochoz [Gallery], published in 1994, received the Jiří Orten Award. His recent work includes the books O čem sní [What Do They Dream Of] (2016), Rozvláčná vyjádření radosti [Lengthy Expressions of Happiness] (2016), Wernisch (2015), Zlodějíček [The Little Thief] (2014) and Všechno je to na zahradě [It’s All in the Garden] (2013). ‘In its core,’ writes Petr A.
